Nigeria’s real estate sector may be taking a quiet but meaningful step toward greater transparency and confidence, following a new partnership between the Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria, REDAN, and Sytemap Technologies Limited aimed at digitising land and property transactions.
Through a recently signed Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, both organisations plan to introduce more structure and clarity into how properties are listed, verified, and transacted, using digital tools to support developers, buyers, and investors across the country.
For many Nigerians, buying property has long involved navigating unclear documentation, fragmented records, and informal processes. While these challenges have persisted for years, REDAN and Sytemap say technology now offers an opportunity to improve how information is organised and accessed, without disrupting the market.
The collaboration will connect REDAN’s network of registered developers with Sytemap’s digital real estate infrastructure, allowing properties to be mapped, verified, and tracked on a unified platform known as RightHOME. The goal, according to both parties, is to support more consistent standards and reduce uncertainty in property transactions.
President of REDAN, HRM Oba Akintoye Adeoye, described the partnership as a step toward building confidence across the value chain.
“When developers, buyers, and regulators operate on a trusted digital foundation, everyone benefits—from Nigerians buying their first home to institutional investors supporting large-scale developments,” he said.
Industry observers note that unclear land ownership and documentation continue to limit housing development and investment, particularly in fast-growing urban areas. By introducing digital mapping and transaction tracking, the REDAN–Sytemap partnership aims to complement existing processes with tools that promote accountability and traceability.
Under the agreement, REDAN will support the onboarding of its registered developers onto the RightHOME platform, while Sytemap will provide the technology backbone, including secure data systems, property mapping, and transaction monitoring designed to minimise disputes.
Chief Executive Officer of Sytemap, Nnamdi Uba, said the initiative is designed with everyday users in mind.
“For Nigerians, this means clearer ownership records and smoother transactions. For developers, it supports buyer confidence and a more orderly market. Beyond technology, it’s about peace of mind for people investing their life savings,” he said, adding that REDAN’s involvement reflects a growing readiness within the industry to embrace better systems.
The MoU was signed by Ndifreke Ikokpu, Chief Operating Officer of Sytemap, and Cholatte Odunlade-Akeji, Director of RightHOME, with HRM Oba Akintoye Adeoye representing REDAN.
As digital tools continue to shape sectors from health to finance, stakeholders say similar approaches in real estate could help create a more reliable foundation for long-term growth—one step at a time.
