New e-commerce platform, 2Clicks, has officially launched in Nigeria, offering free and unlimited product listings for online sellers as it seeks to deepen digital commerce and expand opportunities for businesses, entrepreneurs and informal traders.

Speaking at a media briefing in Lagos, Country Manager of 2Clicks, Bakare Olaoluwa, said the platform was built to remove barriers that prevent many Nigerians from participating in e-commerce.

According to him, unlike conventional subscription-based models, 2Clicks allows users to create online stores and list unlimited products free of charge, while generating revenue through optional premium services that boost product visibility.

“Our philosophy is to significantly improve the way Nigerians buy and sell online. Anyone can join our marketplace and list as many products as they want for free, whether they are professional retailers, university students running small businesses or individuals looking to sell items they no longer need,” Olaoluwa said.

He added: “We want to democratise online selling by creating a platform that delivers better value and a better user experience. If sellers need additional visibility, they can subscribe to premium services, but those who choose not to pay can continue using the platform without losing their stores.”

Olaoluwa explained that the platform leverages artificial intelligence to personalise users’ shopping experience by recommending products based on browsing behaviour.

“Our algorithm learns users’ preferences and presents products that are relevant to them. This makes it easier for buyers to discover what they need while helping sellers reach customers who are more likely to make purchases,” he said.

To strengthen trust on the platform, he said all sellers are required to complete identity verification using either the National Identification Number, NIN, or Bank Verification Number, BVN, before they are allowed to trade.

According to him, merchants seeking a “Verified Seller” badge must undergo an additional facial video verification process and submit a government-issued identification document.

“We have introduced fintech-level Know Your Customer processes because trust is critical in e-commerce. We want buyers to transact with confidence, knowing sellers have been properly verified,” he said.

Olaoluwa also disclosed that the company has recorded over 100,000 downloads and more than 150,000 product listings within about two months of launching operations in Nigeria.

“We deliberately onboarded sellers before marketing to buyers because we wanted consumers to find enough products once they joined the platform. We are growing by thousands of new users every day, and our ambition is to build Nigeria’s largest online marketplace,” he said.

He added that the platform connects buyers directly with sellers without operating warehouses, allowing users to search for products by location while encouraging buyers to inspect goods before payment where applicable.

The company said it expects the platform to boost opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurs by making online trading more accessible, affordable and secure.
