LG Electronics has showcased its latest technologies at the Republic of Korea’s National Day celebration in Abuja, highlighting the role of innovation in strengthening ties between Nigeria and South Korea.
The event, hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea under the theme, “One Heaven. One Earth. One Humanity,” brought together government officials, diplomats, business leaders and development partners.
Guests experienced a range of LG products, including OLED displays, Soundbar and Xboom audio systems, AI-powered home appliances and smart living technologies.
Managing Director of LG Electronics, Mr Hyoung Sub Ji, said technology was most valuable when it improved people’s everyday lives.
“Technology is most meaningful when it creates positive experiences for people. What made this event special was seeing guests engage openly, ask questions and discover how innovation can address everyday challenges,” Ji said.
“As a Korean brand that has shared a long journey with Nigeria, we remain committed to delivering solutions that make life better while fostering stronger connections between our two countries,” he added.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nigeria, Jeong Yo-an, said continued collaboration in innovation, human capital development and strategic partnerships would support sustainable growth.
“Companies such as LG Electronics exemplify the strength of Korea-Nigeria cooperation, demonstrating how innovation can be translated into meaningful home appliances and energy-efficient solutions that contribute to a more convenient, connected and sustainable future,” he said.
Representing Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief of Protocol at the ministry, Amb. Babagana Wakil, called for stronger cooperation in industrial manufacturing, technology transfer, agriculture, education and maritime development.
He said both countries had significant opportunities to advance their development through practical collaboration.
The celebration also featured Korean cuisine, traditional performances and Taekwondo demonstrations, offering guests opportunities to experience Korean culture and engage with one another.
LG said its participation reflected the company’s commitment to accessible, people-centred innovation and to the growing relationship between Nigeria and South Korea.
South Korea’s National Foundation Day commemorates the founding ideals of the Korean people, often interpreted as “to benefit all humanity.”
