The Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria, ATCON, has reiterated its commitment to providing the digital backbone required to drive Nigeria’s e-government transformation.
Speaking at the Nigeria e-Government Summit 2025, ATCON President, Mr. Tony Izuagbe Emokpere, described the summit’s theme: “Public-Private Partnership for Effective Government Service Delivery” as central to Nigeria’s digital future.
“No government can deliver efficient, citizen-centered services in isolation,” Emokpere said. “Collaboration between the public and private sectors is not just beneficial, it is imperative.”
He noted that over the years, partnerships between government and private players in the telecoms and ICT sector have enabled seamless online access to public services, strengthened transparency, improved security, and created new opportunities for Nigerians. From mobile connectivity to digital identity, electronic payments to cloud infrastructure, these partnerships, he said, have defined Nigeria’s story of progress.
Reaffirming ATCON’s role, Emokpere stressed that the association’s members remain committed to delivering the robust telecommunications infrastructure, expertise, and innovation that power e-government initiatives in line with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy.
“With the right policy frameworks, mutual trust, and shared responsibility, Nigeria can leapfrog into a future where government services are more accessible, affordable, and effective for all,” he assured.
He concluded by urging stakeholders at the summit to translate their deliberations into actionable outcomes and constructive collaborations that would accelerate Nigeria’s journey towards a more connected, efficient, and prosperous nation.
NiRA pushes for wider .ng domain adoption to boost e-govt in Nigeria
The Nigeria Internet Registration Association, NiRA, has urged stronger collaboration between government institutions and private sector players to accelerate e-government transformation and strengthen Nigeria’s digital identity.
Speaking at the Nigeria e-Government Summit 2025, NiRA President, Mr. Adesola Akinsanya, described the country’s .ng domain as a critical national asset for trust, innovation, and credibility in the digital space.
He commended the progress made by agencies like the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, in enabling seamless online services but stressed that greater synergy with NiRA would drive wider adoption of the .ng domain across ministries, departments, and agencies.
Akinsanya said: “With stronger adoption of the .ng domain for official use, Nigeria can build a trusted and distinctly Nigerian digital identity that enhances transparency and service delivery.”
He called on stakeholders to turn summit discussions into practical strategies and partnerships that will position Nigeria as a leader in digital innovation and governance in Africa.
