As digital payment adoption accelerates across Nigeria and other emerging markets, fintech company PalmPay has stressed the need for stronger trust, resilience and reliability in payment infrastructure to sustain the next phase of growth in the sector.
The company said while significant progress has been made in advancing digital financial services, concerns around security, interoperability, transaction reliability and system resilience remain critical factors that will determine how confidently digital payments can scale across Africa.
PalmPay made the submission ahead of the Digital Pay Expo 2026, where industry stakeholders, including fintech operators, payment service providers, regulators and other ecosystem players, are expected to discuss the future of digital payments under the theme: “Seamless Digital: Fostering Pan-African Market Expansion in the Era of AI.”
According to the company, its participation in the event reflects its commitment to building trusted and scalable payment infrastructure while supporting industry-wide efforts to strengthen standards, systems and partnerships required for long-term growth.
Speaking ahead of the event, Head of Marketing and Communications at PalmPay Nigeria, Olorunfemi Hanson, said trust and reliability would be central to the future of digital finance.
He said: “As the financial services ecosystem continues to grow, trust and reliability become even more important.
The industry’s next phase will be shaped not only by innovation, but by the strength of the infrastructure supporting it.
“Digital Pay Expo provides an important platform to address the resilience, interoperability and trust issues that will shape the future of digital payments growth across Africa.”
The two-day event, scheduled to hold from June 17 to 18, 2026, is expected to bring together key stakeholders to examine how innovation, regulation and scalability can be balanced to strengthen confidence across the digital payments value chain.
PalmPay’s Managing Director, Chika Nwosu, is expected to participate alongside other industry leaders, including the Director-General of the Payment System Management Department, PSMD, of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
The company noted that discussions at the event would focus on building a more resilient, secure and scalable digital payments ecosystem capable of supporting financial inclusion and economic growth across the continent.
Founded in 2019, PalmPay Group is a multinational fintech company providing digital financial services across Africa and South Asia.
The company offers services including payments, savings, credit, wealth management and merchant acquiring, while also supporting access to digital finance through smartphone financing initiatives.
PalmPay said it remains committed to supporting the development of a trusted digital financial ecosystem that meets the needs of businesses and consumers in Nigeria and other emerging markets.
