One of the leading digital financial services providers in Nigeria, Moniepoint Inc, has announced the opening of applications for the 2026 edition of its Women in Tech internship programme, as it intensifies efforts to bridge the gender gap in Nigeria’s technology ecosystem.
Now in its sixth year, the programme is themed “There Is Space for You,” a campaign the company says is designed to encourage more women across the country to pursue careers in technology despite barriers to access.
Moniepoint noted that although progress has been recorded, women still account for only about 25 per cent of Nigeria’s tech workforce, despite representing nearly half of the population and 22 per cent of annual STEM graduates.
According to the firm, the Women in Tech initiative has, over the past five years, focused on expanding opportunities and creating pathways for women to enter and thrive in the industry.

Building on the success of the 2025 “Dream 15” cohort, the programme’s largest intake so far, the 2026 edition will offer expanded roles across key areas including Cloud Engineering, Frontend and Backend Engineering, Data Engineering, Systems Administration, Product Management, Information Security, Mobile Engineering, and Site Reliability Engineering.
Successful applicants will receive competitive salaries, work tools, branded merchandise, and mentorship from experienced professionals within the organisation. High-performing interns may also be offered full-time employment, a pathway that has already seen several alumni transition into permanent roles.
Sharing her experience, a former intern and now full-time employee, Bisola Abimbola, said the programme provided hands-on exposure and real responsibility.
“I can confidently say the internship was one of the best things that has happened in my career. I was given real product ownership, working on multiple projects and driving them forward like an actual product manager, not just observing from the sidelines,” she said.
Also speaking, Head of People Operations at Moniepoint Inc., Chinaza Nduka-Dike, said the initiative goes beyond advocacy to creating tangible opportunities for women.
“With the Women in Tech programme, we are not just inspiring inclusion, we are actively creating sustainable pathways for women to thrive in the tech industry.
“This is a space where diversity fuels innovation, and through programmes like this, we are empowering women to take on leadership roles, develop crucial skills, and shape the future of technology,” she said.
She added that the success of previous cohorts, whose alumni now contribute significantly within the company and the broader tech ecosystem, reinforces the need to sustain the initiative.
“The progress we have seen across five cohorts fills us with pride. There is space for the next generation, and we are ready for them,” she added.
Moniepoint said the 2026 campaign also aligns with its broader commitment to advancing gender equality, in line with global development goals.
Applications opened on March 30, 2026, and the programme is open to women across Nigeria seeking to start or transition into careers in technology, whether self-taught or formally trained.
Interested applicants can find more details and apply via the Women in Tech website.
